Selena Gomez shares heartfelt message about the crackdown on migrants in the US

Selena Gomez posted - and quickly deleted - a video in which she reacted to the immigration raids launched by the Trump administration that resulted in the arrest of over 1,000 people across the country.

The "Emilia Perez" star, who is Mexican-American, posted the video on Instagram. In it, she said through tears that "all my people are being attacked," CNN reports.

"They don't care, not even about the children. I don't understand. I'm so sorry," she stated.

"I wish I could do something, but I can't. I don't know what to do. I will try everything, I promise," the singer added.

Gomez wrote "I'm sorry" next to an emoji of the Mexican flag in text in the bottom corner of her video.

In another post shared on Instagram after the first video was posted, Gomez wrote, "obviously it's not normal to show empathy for people."  That post was also deleted.

On Jan. 26, the Trump administration launched a nationwide immigration enforcement blitz in which 956 people were arrested, according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

In addition to Chicago, immigration raids were reported in California, Texas, Georgia, Colorado, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, according to the Homeland Security and Drug Enforcement Agency.

The arrests involved multiple agencies, including ICE and officials from several Justice Department agencies, who targeted "threats to public safety and national security."  | BGNES
