German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will meet on September 6 in Frankfurt, a German government spokesman said.
The spokesman did not give further details about Zelensky's program in Germany. Der Spiegel reported that the Ukrainian president will attend the gathering at the Ramstein air base, southwest of Frankfurt.
Zelensky's presence is intended to underline the "seriousness of the situation" in Ukraine, days after 55 people were killed and 300 injured in a Russian missile strike on the city of Poltava.
The meeting will be hosted by US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.
The event comes as Moscow's forces advance in Donbass, with Russian President Vladimir Putin saying on September 5 that capturing the eastern region is his "main objective" in the conflict. | BGNES
