Scholz again refused to deliver Taurus missiles to Ukraine

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz again rejected the possibility of providing Kiev with Taurus cruise missiles with a 500-kilometre range.

"Although many are putting pressure on me, I will not supply cruise missiles that can reach Moscow," he said during a meeting with citizens in the community of Niederhorrsdorf (Brandenburg state). "I can and do assure you here in this place: I will stay in this position," Scholz said.

At the same time, the chancellor reiterated the need to explore ways to peacefully resolve the conflict in Ukraine. "Now is the time to explore what options there are," Scholz said. But he disagreed that peace talks could be an alternative to Germany's support for Ukraine. "That is naive," the head of the German government said.

Kiev has long wanted Taurus missiles from Berlin, which are analogous to the British Storm Shadows that have already been delivered to Ukraine. | BGNES
