Sacramento trades Vezenkov to Toronto

Alexander Vezenkov will have a new team! Bulgaria's best basketball player was traded by the Sacramento Kings to the Toronto Raptors after only one season with the Kings.

The news was announced by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, who reported that the Kings are trading Vezenkov and Davion Mitchell and the 45th pick in exchange for Jalen McDaniels. Kings reporter Sean Cunningham added that Sacramento is sending a second 2025 draft pick from the Portland Trail Blazers as part of the deal.

After shining with his performances in the Euroleague, Vezenkov signed a contract with Sacramento. The Bulgarian was rarely given chances to appear by the head coach of the Kings Mike Brown, and to top it off, he missed nearly 30 games due to ankle problems. In 42 games last season, Vezenkov scored 5.4 points on 44% shooting from the field and 37.5% from three, adding 2.3 rebounds in an average of 12.2 minutes on the floor.

Recently, there were reports that Vezenkov himself requested a trade, and then they were denied. Thus, a big question mark was raised about whether the basketball player wants to stay in Sacramento or is ready to move to another NBA team. There was also the option of returning to Europe, where there was interest from the Greek giants Olympiakos and Panathinaikos.

Wojnarowski emphasized that the trade for the Kings is purely financial. By releasing the contracts of Mitchell and Vezenkov, the team is out of the luxury tax. This opens up a place for a new player in the team. | BGNES
