Sabalenka reaches Roland Garros quarter-finals without dropping a set

Aryna Sabalenka advanced to the quarter-finals of the year's second Grand Slam tournament, Roland Garros, after convincingly overcoming Emma Navarro 6-2, 6-3 in about an hour and 10 minutes of play.

The world number 2 dominated the court from the start, pulling two breaks in the opening set before closing out the set comfortably. In the second set, the Belarusian made two breaks again to congratulate herself on the victory. So she reached the last eight in Paris without losing a set after consecutive wins over Erika Andreeva, Moyuka Uchijima and Paula Badosa.

Sabalenka played a very strong match, making seven aces and not a single double fault. She won 85% of the points on the first serve and 65% on the second serve. She did not concede a single break point to her opponent, finishing with 36 winners and 12 unforced errors.

In a dispute for a place in the semi-finals, the second seed in the scheme will play the winner of the match between Varvara Gracheva and Mira Andreeva. | BGNES
