Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo recorded a goal and an assist in his 1,200th game in professional football. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner scored the outstanding achievement in his Al Nasser side's 4-1 win over Al Riyadh in a Saudi Arabian league match.
"New three points! Thanks to all of my teammates who helped me reach 1,200 games. What a journey, but we're not done yet," the 38-year-old Portuguese wrote on Instagram. Ronaldo, who leads the goalscoring list in Saudi Arabia with 16 goals in 15 games, holds the record for most appearances in the Champions League (183) as well as at national team level (205). He has 438 matches for Real Madrid, 346 for Manchester United, 134 for Juventus, 46 for Al Nasser, 31 for Sporting Lisbon and 205 for Portugal. Ronaldo is also the all-time leading goalscorer after hitting 850 goals in professional football in September.
The record holder for most games played at professional level is believed to be former England goalkeeper Peter Shilton, who has 1,387 career games. /BGNES
