Almost a month after the death of One Direction star Liam Payne, Rita Ora paid an emotional tribute to him while hosting this year's MTV European Music Awards in Manchester.
Ora collaborated with Payne on the 2018 hit For You, and her voice trembled as she remembered him, calling him "one of the kindest people I've ever known".
She was dressed in a dark suit, in a heartfelt moment that contrasted with the upbeat tone of the rest of the ceremony.
On the night, Taylor Swift continued her global domination and made history as the first person to win the Best Female Artist award three times in the 30-year history of the Awards.
Other winners included Ray, Sabrina Carpenter, Tyla and Benson Boone.
Sunday's ceremony was held in the United Kingdom for the first time since 2017 and was the third time Ora had hosted.
Towards the end of the show, she switched from her energetic image to reminiscing about Payne.
"I just want to take a moment to remember a man who was very, very dear to us," she told the audience.
"We lost him recently, and he was a big part of MTV's world and my world, and I think your world," Rita Ora added. | BGNES
