Rilski Sportist won the first championship title in the National Basketball League in its history after defeating Balkan Botevgrad 81:69 as a guest in game number 4 of the final series. In this way, the team from Samokov closed the series with 3-1.
The champions of the last two years, Balkan, won the third match in dramatic fashion to stay in the fight, but last night, Rilski Sportist showed that they were the better team and deservedly came away with the success. Alan Arnett from Rilski Sportist was chosen as the most valuable player at the finals in the Bulgarian championship.
"I have no words. I can't describe it. I wish it to everyone. This is an extraordinary moment for a Rila athlete and for our president Petar Georgiev, as well as for executive director Borislav Chilingirov. The feeling is indescribable. In the mid-season we were dreaming of the title and I expected us to play in the final. The way we worked, I believed we could win the title," said the coach of Rilski Sportist Lubomir Kirov.
The bronze medals in the championship remain for Chernomorets, who defeated Spartak Pleven 2-1 in the dispute for the third place. /BGNES
