French carmaker Renault said its sales volume was up in 2024, with strong growth in hybrid vehicles.
Renault Group, which also owns budget brands Dacia and sporty Alpine, sold nearly 2.26 million vehicles globally last year, an increase of 1.3 percent from the previous year, AFP reported.
The overall growth was driven by a 45 percent jump in hybrid vehicles, which accounted for just over a quarter of total global sales.
Electric vehicle sales accounted for nine percent of the total, but the figure was higher at the end of 2024 as the manufacturer launched new models, including the Renault 5 E-Tech, inspired by a popular model from the 1980s.
Renault expects to add a longer-range version of the Renault 5 E-Tech plus a larger Renault 4 E-Tech to further boost EV sales this year.
