Record turnout in the French parliamentary elections

French voters turned out en masse for the second round of parliamentary elections.

The turnout at 17:00 local time, three hours before polls closed, was the highest in four decades, AFP reported.

Interior Ministry figures show 61.4 percent of voters cast ballots.

Marine Le Pen's right-wing National Front (FN) party is the favourite to be the largest party in parliament and form a cabinet. | BGNES
