Barcelona suffered their second defeat since the start of the season in the Spanish La Liga, after losing to Real Sociedad 0:1 away in a match of the 13th round of the championship.
The Catalans put the ball in the net as early as the 13th minute through Robert Lewandowski, but the Polish forward's goal was disallowed after VAR intervened for a thin offside. Several replays did not convince the truth of the decision, but in the end there was no goal for the guests. Hosts San Sebastian made the most of it and were rewarded for their strong performance with a goal from Sheraldo Becker in the 33rd minute.
After the break, Hanzi Flick's men never found the right way to Alex Remiro's goal and lost for the second time since the start of the season after defeat by Osasuna in Pamplona. What's more, the Blaugranas finished without a shot against Sociedad. Thus, the team leads by six points in front of the second Real Madrid, who has a game less. Real Sociedad is eighth with 18 points.
In the next round after the international break, Sociedad have a Basque derby with Athletic Bilbao, while Barca visit Celta in Vigo. | BGNES
