"Sending weapons to Ukraine by South Korea would be a big mistake."
This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin during his visit to Vietnam, AFP reported.
"As for the supply of lethal weapons to Ukraine in the war zones, it would be a very big mistake. If that happens, then we will take the appropriate decision, which probably will not please the current leadership of South Korea," said Putin.
On June 20, South Korea announced that it would "revise" its long-standing policy that prohibits it from supplying weapons directly to Ukraine.
It came just a day after Putin and South Korean leader Kim Jong Un signed a new security agreement during the Russian president's visit to Pyongyang.
The agreement has alarmed Seoul because it stipulates that if one side is attacked, the other must come to its aid.
During his press conference in Vietnam, Putin did not rule out sending weapons to North Korea.
"Those who send missiles to Ukraine think they are not fighting us, but I have said, including in Pyongyang, that then we reserve the right to deliver weapons to other regions of the world, in accordance with our agreements with North Korea," said the Russian president. | BGNES
