Poland sends fighter jets during Russian missile attack on Ukraine

"Due to the massive attack by Russia, which has been striking with cruise missiles, ballistic missiles and drones at sites located, among other places, in western Ukraine, Polish and allied aircraft have begun operations," Poland's Operations Command said.

These measures are "aimed at ensuring security in areas adjacent to the threatened zones."

Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko said in a Telegram message that "a massive attack against our energy system continues" and that Russian forces "are attacking electricity generation and transmission facilities throughout Ukraine."

Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko said one person was injured by falling debris from a drone on an apartment building.

Local authorities and Ukrainian media reported multiple explosions across the country, including in Zaporizhzhya, Odesa and Mykolaiv in the south and Chernihiv in the north. | BGNES
