Polish Minister of Defense Władysław Kosyniak-Kamisz announced the establishment of a new helicopter base in the town of Swidnik, eastern Poland, TVP World reported.
The announcement was made during a meeting with local authorities on March 25, where a letter of intent was signed, marking a significant step towards the realization of this defense project.
The initiative aims to provide a permanent base for the helicopter units of the Polish ground forces.
Kosińak-Kamis highlighted the strategic importance of eastern Poland, stressing the need for significant support in provinces such as Lublin, Podlaskie, Warmian-Masurian and Subcarpathian.
"This is the part of Poland that today deserves enormous support," the minister added.
The establishment of the new helicopter base is not only a military undertaking, but also an investment in the local communities. Such initiatives are expected to bring economic benefits to the region in addition to enhancing national security.
Site management will involve collaboration between city and regional authorities and the Military Property Agency, ensuring that the project meets both national defense and local development objectives.
This collaborative approach is a sign of the Polish government's commitment to using military investment to support regional growth and stability.
The decision to establish a helicopter base in Świdnik is a clear sign of Poland's active position in terms of guarding its borders and preparing its military forces for any potential challenges. By investing in critical infrastructure and training, Poland seeks to ensure a permanent presence of allied troops and its own armed forces in strategically important regions./BGNES
