Poland also hit by Russian hackers

Poland announced that it was also "among the targets" of the Russian-controlled hacking group that had attacked Germany and the Czech Republic, POLITICO reported. "Poland stands in solidarity with Germany and the Czech Republic following the malicious cyber campaign against their political parties and democratic institutions," the Polish foreign ministry said in a statement on Friday. The German government said on Friday that email accounts belonging to officials from German Chancellor Olaf Scholz's party were hit following an attack carried out by the hacking group APT28, or Fancy Bear. The group is part of the Russian military intelligence GRU.

The Czech government also issued a statement supporting Germany's claims, saying its intelligence service discovered intrusions by Fancy Bear into Czech institutions around the same time. "Poland, which is also among the targets of APT 28, strongly condemns the repeated and unacceptable malicious cyber campaigns conducted by Russian actors," the statement said. The Foreign Ministry did not provide further details about the attack. /BGNES
