Manchester City attacking midfielder Phil Foden has won the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) Player of the Year award. The England international received his accolade at a ceremony at the Manchester Opera House, attended by much of England's football elite.
The PFA award is considered the most prestigious of the annual honours as the winner is decided by the footballers themselves. "It's special for me to receive this award and I'm very grateful. To be recognized by your peers is huge and I thank everyone who voted for me," said Foden, who scored 19 goals in 35 Premier League games last season and was largely responsible for City's fourth consecutive league triumph.
Foden beat off competition from Erling Holland, Rhodri, Cole Palmer, Martin Jodegaard and Ollie Watkins for the honour.
Chelsea striker Cole Palmer, who also won the top scorer prize during the past campaign, was named number 1 among young players. | BGNES
