Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó called for honesty on the issue of EU enlargement and criticized its leaders for toying with the Western Balkans with the idea of joining the EU.
This was announced by the State Secretary for International Communications and Relations in the office of the Hungarian Prime Minister Zoltan Kovacs.
"It is time to stop playing games and talk honestly about the expansion of the Western Balkans. If we were really in favor of enlargement, North Macedonia would not have waited 19 years as a candidate," noted Szijjarto.
He also criticized EU decision-making behind closed doors, with many leaders opposing enlargement despite public statements of support," Kovacs wrote in X. /BGNES, AFP
