Paul Mescal: Ridley Scott is a legend and will go down in history

After more than two decades, the epic Gladiator saga returns with Gladiator II, directed by the visionary Ridley Scott!
Actor Paul Mescal, who plays the lead role of Lucius, recently shared his experience of working with a director of Scott's caliber in an interview with Screen Rant. Mescal tells the publication:

"I've never worked with anyone like him in terms of style. He's super fast. I feel the way I felt when I was playing sports. It's different, you're exercising different muscles and I think as a result of that, anyone who's seen any of my work prior to this thinks it's a very different performance as a result, which of course it is because it's a different style of directing and he (Scott - ed.) is just, as you said, a legend and will be remembered as such."

The film continues the story of Lucius, son of Lucilla, who is forced to become a gladiator after his home is conquered by the tyrannical emperors. With anger in his heart and the future of the empire at stake, Lucius must turn to his past to find the strength and honor to restore the glory of Rome to its people. In addition to Mescal, the official cast includes Pedro Pascal as General Marcus Acacius, Connie Nielsen as Lucilla, Joseph Quinn and Fred Hechinger as the twin emperors Caracalla and Geta, and Denzel Washington as Macrinus. The screenplay of " Gladiator II" was written by David Scarpa and the story was developed by Peter Craig and David Scarpa.

Paramount Pictures' Gladiator II will be released in U.S. theaters on November 22, 2024 | BGNES
