The actress spoke about her life and career during the Zurich Film Festival in Switzerland, where she was awarded the Golden Eye Award. She revealed that she hardly remembers her life in the limelight after she shot to fame in the hit TV series 'Lifeguards on the Beach'.
"I watch it now and I feel like I've gone from 'Baywatch' to Broadway. I don't know what happened between them, it's all one big blur. I'm just happy to be here at this point because I think I had depression for a couple of decades," Anderson said.
Pamela made her Broadway debut in 2022, playing Roxie Hart in "Chicago" for eight weeks. She was able to secure a number of film roles, including in "The Last Showgirl," "Rosebud Pruning," as well as a role in the new film "The Naked Gun," which will be released next year.
The star explained that she is excited to be busy working again. She believes Netflix's 2023 documentary "Pamela: A Love Story" has helped her revive her career after "The Last Showgirl" director Gia Coppola watched it.
"That's how Gia saw me. I always knew I was capable of more. It's great to be part of pop culture, but it's a blessing and a curse. People fall in love with you because of the bathing suit. It took me a long time, but I'm here. I think timing is everything. I thought I'd never have the opportunity to do something like this," Anderson said.
"I kind of thought, 'Oh, well, this is what people think of me. I'm just going to go back to my farm, make jam and that's it. I'll figure out another way to make my life beautiful. But the documentary came out, the book came out, and Gia saw the documentary. She must be some kind of master or prophet or something, but she was so wonderful that she sent me the script and I read it and I was like, "Oh my God, this is something. It's that thing when people read the script and really realize they're the only ones who can do it. They have to do it. It's life and death. And I felt that way and I get chills even thinking about it," she said. | BGNES
