According to a study, the number of active users of social media has grown to more than 5 billion, or about 62.3% of humanity, reported AFP.
Their numbers grew by 5.6% last year, outpacing the world's population increase of 0.9%, according to the report by media monitoring company Meltwater and social media agency We Are Social.
The social network with the most users is Meta's Facebook with 2.19 billion. Next is Meta's Instagram with 1.65 billion users, closely followed by TikTok with 1.56 billion.
The report warned that accurate data is difficult to obtain because of automated accounts or people using different identities.
The most searched Wikipedia entry was "ChatGPT", the IA language model developed by OpenAI, highlighting the exploding interest in artificial intelligence.
