"Donald Trump won't give a dime to the war between Ukraine and Russia if re-elected".
This was stated by the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, the "Kyiv Independent" reported.
On March 8, Trump hosted Orban at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida, calling the Hungarian prime minister a "fantastic leader." Orbán has a long-standing relationship with conservatives in the US and is one of the few European leaders openly friendly to the Kremlin.
Hungary's prime minister says Trump will cut off US arms supplies, a move he says will mark the end of the war.
"It is obvious that Ukraine cannot stand on its own feet," Orban said.
The Republican presidential nominee's plan for the proposed peace talks in Ukraine remains unclear, and it is unclear whether he will be able to muster enough support even within his own party.
While the share of Republicans who think the US is giving too much aid to Ukraine is higher than that of Democrats, according to a survey released in December 2023, it is less than a majority (48%).
Trump's influence over the Republican Party has contributed to the ongoing impasse in Congress over US aid to Ukraine. Earlier in February, the Senate passed a funding bill containing $60 billion in aid to Ukraine, but House Speaker Mike Johnson has so far refused to bring it up for a vote.
The former president further caused concern in the West after he said he would encourage Russia to do "whatever it wants" with NATO members who do not meet the 2% defense spending requirement./BGNES
