The US will send another Patriot air defense system to Ukraine in the coming days, the New York Times (NYT) reported.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently called for several additional Patriot systems. He said that two of them would be needed in the Kharkiv region, where Russia has launched a new offensive.
"Russia's biggest strategic advantage over Ukraine is superiority in the sky. It is missile and bomb terror that helps Russian troops advance on land," Zelensky said at the Ukraine Reconstruction Conference in Berlin.
The NYT claims that the new Patriot system intended for Ukraine is currently deployed in Poland, protecting rotating US forces due to return to the US.
The delivery will be at least the second Patriot system Washington has sent to Ukraine.
At the Berlin Conference, German Chancellor Scholz called for "the strengthening of Ukraine's air defenses with everything possible."
