Norris dominates in Singapore to further reduce Verstappen's lead

Lando Norris with McLaren triumphed in the Singapore Grand Prix, the 18th round of the Formula 1 season. At the Marina Bay circuit, the Briton started first and left the leader of the general classification Max Verstappen with Red Bull as much as 21 seconds behind him in the final classification. Norris's teammate Oscar Piastri, who started today's race from fifth position, took third place on the podium.

Unlike previous starts, Norris this time did not lose the lead at the very beginning of the race and built a huge lead over Verstappen. Earlier in the campaign, Norris was jubilant in Zandvoort by 22 seconds ahead of the Dutchman, beating him decisively on home soil. The young Briton failed to add another point today for fastest lap - it went to Daniel Ricciardo with RB Honda.

Mercedes' George Russell held off Ferrari's Charles Leclerc for fourth. The top 10 in Singapore also included Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes), for whom it was race number 350 in his remarkable career, Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) - with start number 200 in F1, Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin), Nico Hulkenberg (Haas) and Sergio Perez (Red Bull).

In the general classification, Verstappen leads Norris by 52 points, six races and two Sprints before the end of the season. Third-placed Leclerc is 86 points from the top. In the constructors' standings, McLaren increased its lead over Red Bull to 41 points.

The next Grand Prix on the calendar is in Austin, Texas, on October 20 at 22:00 Bulgarian time. | BGNES
