The Deputy Speaker of the 49th National Assembly of Bulgaria and MP from "We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria" Nikola Minchev will give up the chair of the parliament, which he had to occupy as a result of the "gentleman's agreement" with GERB, and instead will run for the European Parliament as the leader of the list of We Continue the Change.
Minchev announced his decision to his colleagues from We Continue the Change on Tuesday (16 January). It is to be formalised by a vote of the party's executive council when the actual preparations for the vote begin. Until then, the formation must also decide whether to participate jointly with Democratic Bulgaria, and if the two political forces appear with a joint list, Minchev's leadership must also be approved by the bodies of Yes Bulgaria, DSB and Green Movement.
For now, the party of Kiril Petkov and Asen Vassilev say they will propose the second position in the list to be for a representative of Yes Bulgaria. In this scenario, it remains unknown what the reaction of the only representative of Democratic Bulgaria in the European Parliament, Radan Kanev from DSB, will be, who recently said that he does not think his "interest to participate in these elections is in doubt". According to unofficial information from We Continue the Change, Daniel Lorer, Kalina Konstantinova, Denitsa Simeonova, and Nastimir Ananiev have also expressed their desire to run for the European Parliament. / BGNES
