Nicole Kidman wakes up in tears every night since her mother died

In a conversation with Britain's GQ magazine on November 18, Nicole Kidman talks about her problems and worries as she approaches 60. The Australian-American actress shared about the difficulty of coming to terms with the death of both her parents.

Nicole Kidman has been on all fronts lately. In 2024, the 57-year-old actress took on one role after another, starring in the TV series "Expats" and "The Perfect Couple," as well as the big-screen romance film "A Family Affair." The international star was in London on November 17 to present a commemorative award to Quincy Jones at the Governors Awards, and is also due to appear in cinema for her thriller Babygirl in 2025. But on November 18 it was a very different Nicole Kidman who opened up in an interview with the UK edition of GG magazine.

As she approaches her 60th birthday, the Oscar winner talks about the new emotions she's experiencing, "Mortality... Life goes by and it hits you." Assaulted by these thoughts as night falls, Nicole Kidman reveals she suffers from insomnia. "Life is definitely an adventure. And it hits you harder as you get older. Sometimes I wake up at three in the morning, crying and choking with anxiety," she says. Despite appearances, it's anxieties that gnaw at the Big Little Lies star: "I'm here. Really!"

Although she rarely hears from her adopted children Isabella and Connor, whom she adopted with Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman still has a very strong bond with her youngest daughter, Sunday Rose from husband Keith Urban. "There's a dimension of mortality that's part of life. And when you start to face it, it's very heavy. When you're raising kids, you say, 'I have to stay here. I want to see all this. It's devastating, beautiful and extraordinary at the same time," she explains.

In her confessional, Nicole Kidman highlights the difficulty of accepting the loss of her parents. "Losing your parents and raising kids and getting married and all the things that come and go and make you feel human," she continues. Nicole Kidman still hasn't gotten over the death of her mother, who died last September. The "Moulin Rouge" star learned of her mother's death while traveling to Italy for the Venice Film Festival.

Ten years ago, the actress had already lost her father Anthony. This famous psychologist from the University of Technology in Sydney died tragically when he fell from his hotel room. Even then, Nicole Kidman expressed her grief on Facebook, "We are all heartbroken but knowing we are in the hearts and thoughts of others is so comforting. Sending all of you my love." Now orphaned, the actress is trying to move on with the support of her loved ones. | BGNES
