The Philippines has raised a new weather alert, days after more than 100 people were killed by the strongest storm of the year.
Nearly one million people are still sheltering in evacuation centers or with relatives after losing their homes to flooding caused by powerful tropical storm Trami, which hit the country on October 22.
Now the National Weather Service reports that Tropical Storm Kong-Rei will bring heavy rain and strong winds ashore in the coming hours and cause rough seas off the east coast.
By Tuesday, "Kong-Ray" will become a typhoon and on Wednesday it will pass near the small Philippine islands to the north, AFP reported.
The lowest of the five degrees of storm warning is in effect along the northeastern coast of the country.
Trams hit some of the country's most populated areas. According to the government's disaster management agency, the death toll is 116 and 39 people are missing. | BGNES
