A new bloody action involving football fans has rocked Germany since the start of Euro 2024. Hundreds of police have cordoned off Berlin's Moabit neighborhood after an unknown shooter opened fire during the 2-1 match between Italy and Albania on Saturday night, Bild reported.
A 23-year-old man was seriously injured. He has gunshot wounds to his leg and shoulder. According to witnesses, at least six shots were heard, and the reason for the shooting was a dispute that arose during the match between the Italians and the Albanians, which was played in Dortmund.
After the action, hundreds of heavily armed police and special forces units were deployed in the Moabit district. They have launched a search for the shooter, but the search has so far yielded no results.
Another dispute between fans ended in death. A mass brawl broke out at the Unterliederbach stadium in Frankfurt after Germany beat Scotland 5-1 on Friday night in the opening match of Euro 2024. In the melee, one person was killed with a stab wound to the chest and several others were injured.
On Saturday during the day, a 31-year-old citizen of Frankfurt surrendered to the local police. Authorities announced that he was arrested and will be charged with manslaughter.
"Dozens of officers searched the surrounding areas, including backyards and garage roofs, for the fleeing perpetrator," 5Vision.News reported. However, they were unable to find him before he surrendered himself. The witnesses of the accident were given psychological help by the rescue service and emergency doctors.
Yesterday it emerged that another man with a knife injured several people during a private party for the Germany match in the town of Volmirstedt. The attacker was shot by the arriving policemen, and then died of his wounds in the hospital. | BGNES
