The Ministry of Defence of the Netherlands has announced that it will provide an additional 6 F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. This brings the total number of aircraft delivered from Amsterdam to 24.
The fighters were originally part of a purchase negotiation between the ministry and the company Draken international. The sale did not materialise and the government decided to provide the fighters to Ukraine.
Ukraine has already received pledges for about 60 F-16s.
For many years, the F-16 was the most important part of the Royal Netherlands Air Force. This role has been taken over by the F-35. / BGNES
