Netflix series with Meghan Markle delayed due to LA fires

The new Netflix series starring Meghan Markle, wife of Britain's Prince Harry, is being delayed because of the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles, the Duchess of Sussex has announced.

"With Love, Meghan," an eight-episode lifestyle and cooking show, was set to debut on the streaming platform on Wednesday, Jan. 15.

However, the flames that claimed the lives of at least 16 people and destroyed thousands of homes are still burning in Los Angeles. Because of this, the show has been postponed until March.

"I am grateful to my partners at Netflix for supporting me in postponing the launch as we focus on the needs of those affected by the wildfires in my home state of California," Markle said. She was born in Los Angeles, and now lives with Harry in Montecito, a chic coastal enclave about 160 miles northwest of the city.

Last week, Harry and Meghan visited the Los Angeles suburb of Pasadena, where they comforted survivors of the fire.

They also urged Californians to open their homes to evacuees.

"If a friend, relative or pet needs to evacuate and you can offer them safe shelter in your home, please do so," the statement posted on their official website said. | BGNES, AFP
