Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Iran is threatening world peace and that the international community must unite to confront the Islamic Republic's aggression, AFP reports.
"The international community must continue to stand united against this Iranian aggression that threatens world peace," he said in a statement released by his office after Iran carried out a direct attack on Israel over the weekend using hundreds of drones and missiles.
Earlier, the Israeli army said those killed in the strike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus were involved in "terrorism against Israel" - the first official comment on the April 1 attack.
"As far as I know, those killed in Damascus were members of the Quds Force. These were people who were involved in terrorism against the state of Israel," military spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said when asked at a briefing about the strike.
IDF chief Herzi Halevi said Israel would respond to Iran's unprecedented attack.
"This firing of so many Iranian rockets, cruise missiles and drones into Israeli territory will be answered," Halevi said during his visit to the Nevatim base in the south of the country. /BGNES
