Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel would continue to "strike Hezbollah without mercy, including in Beirut," in a video released by his office and quoted by AFP.
"I want to be clear: we will continue to hit Hezbollah without mercy in all parts of Lebanon, including Beirut," Netanyahu said during a visit to the military base hit the previous day by a drone fired by the Lebanese Islamist movement, killing four Israeli soldiers and wounding 60 others.
Since Israel stepped up its bombardment of targets in Lebanon on September 23, the war has claimed at least 1,315 lives, according to the Lebanese health ministry.
Prior to Netanyahu's comments, new airstrikes were carried out on targets in Lebanon, including one in a northern village with a predominantly Christian population. According to Beirut, at least 21 people died on 14 October as a result of the Israeli attacks.
Earlier on 14 October, Hezbollah said it had fired rockets at a naval base near Haifa and also fired another "large rocket salvo" at the northern Israeli town of Safed. | BGNES
