National Assembly votes to impeach incumbent South Korean President Han Duck Soo

The National Assembly votes to impeach acting President Han Duck Soo
This comes less than two weeks after he took over from President Yoon Suk Yol, who was impeached over the failed imposition of martial law, reports Yonhap.
The motion to impeach Han was passed unanimously by a 192-0 vote, marking the first time parliament has voted to impeach a sitting president.
The main opposition Democratic Party (DP), which holds 170 of the 300 seats in the National Assembly, tabled the impeachment motion against Khan the previous day after he refused to appoint additional judges to the Constitutional Court that will rule on Yong's impeachment case.
The DP also cited Han's involvement in imposing martial law on Yun and his refusal to promulgate two special counsel bills targeting Yun and First Lady Kim Kin Hee as reasons for impeachment, among a total of five reasons. | BGNES
