Napoli have officially appointed Antonio Conte as their new head coach. Conte, who has been out of work since leaving Tottenham in March 2023, has signed a three-year contract with the club.
"Napoli is a place of world importance. I am happy and excited to sit on the Azzurri bench. I can promise one thing for sure: I will give my best for the growth of the team and the club. My commitment, along with that of my coaching staff, will be full", said the former Chelsea manager.
Napoli will not play in Europe next season after finishing tenth in Serie A - a year after winning the league title for the first time in 33 years.
"I am very happy that the new coach of Napoli is Antonio Conte. Antonio is a top coach, a leader with whom I am convinced the revival process will begin at the club after the end of the cycle that saw us win the Scudetto last year after many seasons at the forefront of Italian football. Today marks the beginning of a new important page in the history of Napoli", shared the president of the club Aurelio De Laurentiis, who announced the news of Conte's appointment.
Francesco Calzona has been in charge of the Neapolitans since February on a short-term contract but will now return to his duties as Slovakia coach ahead of the start of Euro 2024. The Italian club sacked Walter Mazzarri and Rudi Garcia within three months earlier in the campaign. | BGNES
