Rafael Nadal's return is delayed. Matadora has decided to withdraw from the Masters tournament in Indian Wells.
The Spaniard had to compete with Milos Raonic in the first round of the competition, and now his place will be taken by a 'lucky loser'.
A few days ago, Rafa and Carlos Alcaraz put on a two-hour show in Las Vegas, but now the 37-year-old Spaniard has explained that he still does not feel ready to play at the highest level.
"It is with great sadness that I have to withdraw from this amazing tournament. Everyone knows how much I love playing in Indian Wells. That was also one of the reasons why I arrived very early to train and try to prepare as best I could. ..I have worked hard but I feel that I am not ready to play at the highest level in such an important tournament. The decision is not easy, it is even difficult, but I cannot lie to myself and the thousands of fans. I will miss you all and I am sure that the tournament will be a great success," Nadal wrote on social media.
Thus, the only tournament for Nadal since the beginning of the season remains the one in Brisbane, where he recorded two victories before losing in the quarterfinals to Jordan Thompson. In this match, he suffered another injury, due to which he withdrew from the Australian Open.
He recently said his form at Indian Wells would not matter, with the focus remaining on his involvement in the clay season. Nadal had not planned to play in Miami, so from now on he will concentrate his efforts so that he can be ready for the tournaments in red, possibly the first one we can appear at is the Monte Carlo Masters, which starts on the 7th April. /BGNES
