Musk spoke at Alternative for Germany meeting, via video link

Ilon Musk made a surprise appearance during the election campaign of Germany's far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party in Halle, eastern Germany. This is the second occasion in a matter of weeks that Musk has publicly endorsed the AGW, US News reported.

Addressing a room of 4,500 people alongside party leader Alice Weidel, Musk spoke live via video link about preserving German culture and protecting the German people.

"It's good to be proud of German culture, German values, and not lose them in some kind of multiculturalism that dilutes everything," the world's richest man said.

Last week, he sparked scandal after making a gesture that drew online comparisons to the Nazi salute during the inauguration celebrations of US President Donald Trump.

On January 26, Musk said that "children shouldn't be guilty of the sins of their parents, let alone their great-grandparents," an apparent reference to Germany's Nazi past.

"There's too much focus on blame in the past, and we need to move beyond that," the Tesla and Space X owner said.

Musk, who has spoken out about the German government's suppression of speech, has previously attacked German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on the social network X.

For his part, Scholz said on 21 January that he does not support free speech when it is used to express far-right views.

"I'm very excited for the AfD, I think you really are the best hope for Germany, fight for the great future of Germany," Musk told supporters of the German party.

Weidel thanked him, said Republicans are making America great again, and urged his supporters to make Germany great again. | BGNES
