Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk is set to address the issue of online anti-Semitism at an event in Poland just months after causing a scandal by endorsing an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory, AFP reported.
The conference, organized by the European Jewish Association, comes after Musk made a tweet in November related to a far-right theory and declared it credible, then apologized.
The tech mogul also faces hate speech charges at X after acquiring the social media site in October 2022 for $44 billion.
Senior political figures from European countries and Musk will meet in Krakow to "discuss and find solutions to the astronomical rise in anti-Semitism affecting Europe," the European Jewish Association said.
"This disturbing trend has escalated since the war in Gaza," the organization said.
Musk is scheduled to speak on a panel at 4pm local time alongside right-wing political commentator Ben Shapiro.
The symposium takes place shortly before the 79th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp on January 27, a date that has been designated as Holocaust Remembrance Day.
One million European Jews died in the camp, built by Nazi Germany in occupied Poland between 1940 and 1945, as well as over 100,000 representatives of other ethnic groups repressed by the Nazis.
A visit to the site of the former death camp is planned for the conference participants on January 23./BGNES
