Former world number 1 Andy Murray has admitted he will most likely end his career after the end of this summer. The Briton has been in poor form in recent months and has been unable to produce a strong result in the bigger tournaments. Murray, 36, lost to Frenchman Hugo Humber 2-6, 4-6 in a second-round match at the Dubai Open yesterday.
"Yeah, I mean, I'm likely not going to play past this summer. I get asked about it after every single match that I play, every single tournament that I play. I'm bored of the question, to be honest. I'm not going to talk more about that between now and whenever the time comes for me to stop. But yeah, I don't plan on playing much past this summer." said Murray after his loss.
He did not specify which tournaments he plans to play in, but he will certainly play at Wimbledon and possibly the Paris Olympics after that. The US Open takes place at the end of the summer, but it is unclear whether it is part of the Scot's plans.
He still specified that he wants to participate in Roland Garros at the end of spring. Murray has not played in Paris since 2017. /BGNES
