"The issue of the status of Crimea continues to be the subject of disputes between Moscow and Ankara, but Russia is doing its best to convince its Turkish friends of the correctness of its position."
This was stated by Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov, TASS reported.
Peskov's comments came in response to Turkish President Recep Erdogan's statements about Ukrainian ownership of the peninsula, which was occupied by Russia in 2014.
"This topic falls under the category of disagreements that exist between us and our Turkish friends. We are not giving up our purposeful attempts to further explain our point of view to our Turkish friends and colleagues," the press secretary said.
"We hope that over time this will allow Ankara to understand us better, to understand better - and to agree with our arguments. We continue to develop our relations with Turkey, our partnership relations," he added.
On September 11, during the Crimean Platform international event, Erdogan said in a video address that "the return of Crimea to Ukraine is a requirement of international law." | BGNES
