The midfielder of the Croatian national team and Real Madrid Luka Modric answered a question about a possible retirement.
"I want to always play football, but it's impossible. One day I will have to announce my retirement. I don't know when that will happen. Now is not the time to discuss this," announced Modric, quoted by journalist Fabrizio Romano.
On Monday, June 24, the Croatians drew with Italy (1:1) in a match of the third round of the group stage of Euro 2024. This effectively ended the team's participation in the championship. To reach the 1/8 finals, the "chess players" need a miracle.
Modric was chosen as the player of the match, the 38-year-old midfielder scored the only goal for his team. Before that, he missed a penalty. In addition, Modric became the oldest goalscorer in the history of European championships.
Modric's contract with Real Madrid runs until the end of June 2024, but Spanish media have reported that the player is close to agreeing a new one-year deal. | BGNES
