Mike Tyson returns to the ring against YouTube star Jake Paul

Former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson will return to the ring against YouTube star Jake Paul, who has been boxing for some time.

The match between the two is scheduled for July 20 at the 80,000-seat AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys. The event will be streamed live on Netflix – the first combat sports match in the history of the streaming platform.

Paul is 30 years younger than Tyson, rising on YouTube before surprisingly launching a boxing career. He started with six straight wins before losing to boxer and TV star Tommy Fury. Three more wins followed for Paul, who has an older brother, Logan, who also appears mostly on social media, but is also a champion in the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).

"I am committed to becoming a world champion and now I have the opportunity to prove what I am capable of against the greatest heavyweight champion in history, the baddest man on the planet and the most dangerous boxer of all time. It will be a match of a lifetime", Paul said.

Tyson praised his upcoming opponent. "He's grown a lot as a boxer over the years, so it's going to be a lot of fun to see what the will and ambition of a kid will do against the experience and class of the GOAT. I started his career when I fought Roy Jones Jr. and now I plan to finish it".

Against Roy Jones Jr., Tyson finished in a draw in 2020. That same night, Paul knocked out former NBA star Nate Robinson. The last professional fight of "Iron Mike" was in 2005, when he lost to the Irishman Kevin McBride.

Netflix continues its affinity for broadcasting sports. In the past few months, the streaming platform has aired the Netflix Slam, the exhibition tennis match between Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal, as well as the Netflix Cup, which featured golfers and F1 drivers competing against each other. /BGNES
