Michael Cohen has admitted that he lied and blackmailed people in order to complete tasks assigned to him by Donald Trump, the Guardian reported.
The Republican presidential candidate's former lawyer has been subpoenaed to testify in the former president's trial over hidden payments to porn star Stormy Daniels.
After Daniels' account of a sexual relationship in 2006 with Trump, which he denies, this testimony is another crucial moment in this historic process, reported AFP.
The Republican risks getting the first felony conviction of a former president in United States history.
Cohen, previously dubbed Trump's "pit bull," allegedly paid Daniels $130,000 to buy her silence about the affair late in the 2016 presidential campaign.
According to the indictment, when Michael Cohen was reimbursed by the then-President of the United States in 2017, those expenses were disguised as "legal fees" in the accounts of the Trump Organization holding company to hide that the money was used to cover up of scandal.
Cohen recalled calling Donald Trump "boss" or "Mr. Trump" and talked about his time at the Trump Organization.
“It's been fantastic working for him, especially for those 10 years, it's been an amazing experience in many, many ways. There were great moments, there were a few less than great moments, but for the most part I enjoyed the responsibility that was given to me. I enjoyed working with my colleagues at the Trump Organization, with the Trump children. It was one big family," the lawyer said.
When asked if he had lied for Trump, Cohen replied, "I lied," and said it was necessary to "accomplish a task."
When asked if he bullied people because of the Republican, Cohen replied:
"The only thing that was in my head was to complete the task to make him happy"./BGNES
