Mexico to send firefighters to help contain Los Angeles wildfire

“Mexico will send firefighters and other specialists to Los Angeles to help contain widespread wildfires,” Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said, CNN reported.

“We will send a support team to Los Angeles,” Sheinbaum said at a morning press conference. “

A solidarity team that is made up of forest firefighters from CONAFOR and a team from Plan DN3, from the Ministry of National Defense.” CONAFOR is Mexico’s national forestry agency. Plan DN3 is a component of the Mexican army that deals with natural disasters.

“We will provide support. Not only because the people and government of Mexico have always been generous, but also because there are many Mexicans in this region of the United States,” the Mexican president said.

California Governor Gavin Newsom confirmed Sheinbaum’s announcement in a post on X. He added that he was “deeply grateful” for the Mexican leader’s support. | BGNES
