Messi: I will retire when I cannot maintain a high level

"I know that the moment I feel that I can no longer perform at my level, that I no longer enjoy the game, that I can no longer help my teammates, I will retire."
This was stated by the great star of Argentina and Inter Miami, Lionel Messi, in an interview with the Saudi Big Time Podcast.
"I know that the moment I feel that I can no longer perform at my level, that I no longer enjoy the game, that I can no longer help my teammates, I will retire. I am very self-critical. I know when I am good even when I'm playing bad. When I feel it's time to take that step, I'll do it regardless of age. If I'm feeling good, I'll always try to keep competing because that's what I like and I know how to I do," said Messi,
The world champion said he has not thought about what he will do when he retires and added that he is enjoying the present without thinking about life after football.
"When the time comes, I will certainly find a way to realize myself and do what I like, finding a new role for me," added the Argentine.
Messi said that he has achieved everything at the sporting level and realized all his dreams and could not ask for more.
"It was very difficult for me to go to PSG because I felt good at Barcelona and my plan was to stay there. I wasn't ready to leave. It all happened so fast. I had to rebuild my life from today to tomorrow. I had to go to another league, another club, another dressing room. It was a change I didn't seek and that's why it was very difficult at first," he added.
"Becoming world champions was something magical for us, our families and the whole country. I probably would have left the national team if we hadn't won the title," concluded the superstar./BGNES
