Messi among the nominees for FIFA The Best 2024 awards

FIFA announced the list of nominees for the FIFA The Best 2024 awards. Among them, Lionel Messi was nominated for the Best Footballer of the Year category. The former Barcelona and PSG player will compete for the prize, which he won in 2019, 2022 and 2023.

Naturally, the winner of the Ballon d'Or Rodri is among the nominees. Runner-up Vinicius Junior is also there, as well as the Brazilian's Real Madrid teammates Dani Carvajal, Federico Valverde, Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe. The former player of the Royal Club, Toni Kroos, who has already ended his career, also received a nomination.

Real coach Carlo Ancelotti is among the nominees for Best Coach. There are also those of Pep Guardiola (Manchester City) and Xabi Alonso (Bayer Leverkusen), as well as the national team coaches Lionel Scaloni (Argentina) and Luis de la Fuente (Spain).

For Best Men's Goalkeeper among nominees Emiliano Martinez (Aston Villa), Andriy Lunin (Real Madrid) and Gianluigi Donnarumma (Paris Saint-Germain).

Voting on FIFA's website will be open until and including Tuesday 10 December.
