Meg Ryan returns to romantic comedy after a long break from Hollywood

The film "What Happens Later" is a new romantic comedy in which Meg Ryan, 61, returns as an actress, director and screenwriter.

After starring in beloved films like "When Harry Met Sally" and "Sleepless in Seattle", she cemented her status as the eternal queen of romantic comedies.

As her fame grew, so did her determination to step away from the limelight.

"I took a big break because I felt there were so many other things I wanted to develop," she said, including being a mother to her two children, son Jack, 31, with ex-husband Dennis Quaid, and daughter Daisy of 18, which she adopted in 2006.

"It's good to think of acting as a job and not a lifestyle," she said in a major interview with the US magazine "People".

Now eight years after her last film "Ithaca", her directorial debut in 2015, she returns to the big screen this November with the new romantic comedy "What Happens Later". It's a story about ex-lovers who end up together one night at a regional airport.

Ryan, who is joined in the film by David Duchovny, calls the entire production of this romantic comedy "magical."
