Director Martin Scorsese enjoys the time he spends on TikTok with his daughter Francesca Scorsese, but that doesn't mean he likes every video.
The Oscar winner, who often works alongside his daughter on popular videos, recently told People magazine that he didn't realize at first how popular the social media platform was, nor that he would become a star on TikTok.
"I didn't know about TikTok," he admitted.
"She (his daughter - ed.) said, 'Daddy, just do this for a minute'." I did it, and the next thing I know it's all over the world," the director added.
In some of these videos, Francesca educates her father on youth culture and the slang terms of Generation Z (Gen-Z).
As to whether he has ever turned down offers for videos, the director of said:
"There were a few. I can't think of them at the moment, but I'll say, 'I think you're going too far, darling'." But you know, she's a good actor and has a great sense of humor. We have a good relationship and I use it."
The father-daughter dynamic was also on display earlier this year in the Super Bowl campaign for Squarespace. In the video, the legendary filmmaker attempted to create a website with his daughter's help, but admitted he wasn't a science fiction expert.
Speaking to Vanity Fair about their collaboration with Squarespace at the time, Francesca says she "doesn't regret" teaching her father new words.
"Sometimes he used Gen-Z slang because he heard it somewhere, and that's the funniest thing to me," she stated.
"He's from a different generation, so it's a little - I wouldn't say embarrassing to hear him say it, but it's funny because I feel like he's really trying to stay in tune with my generation and with me," Francesca added. | BGNES
