Mariah Carey to re-release "All I Want For Christmas is You" on the song's 30th anniversary

The 55-year-old singer first performed the Christmas hit in October 1994 - the first single from her festive album 'Merry Christmas' - and to celebrate the song's 30th anniversary, she will re-release it, along with a new version of the album.

The R&B legend shared the news on her Instagram account and recreated the album cover, which features her wearing a Santa Claus-inspired jumpsuit adorned with fur.

"While it's definitely not time to listen to Christmas music just yet, I wanted to share with you a look at #MerryChristmas30! As a tribute to the original album artwork, here are the covers for two of the four new physical singles "All I Want For Christmas Is You" available for pre-order now!" she wrote.

Upon its release in 1994, "Merry Christmas" became a huge hit, selling 15 million copies.

"All I Want For Christmas is You" was co-written by Mariah and producer Walter Afanasieff.

The song, which took only 15 minutes to write and compose, brings Mariah about $600,000 a year in royalties.

Mariah is also embarking on a Christmas tour of North America.

The singer is once again kicking off her annual Christmas extravaganza on 20 dates in the US, starting with a premiere at the Yamava Theatre in Highland, California, on November 6.

She'll continue the tour in Arizona, Texas, Georgia, Tennessee and Illinois, and move on to Washington, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Maryland, North Carolina and New Jersey in December.

Mariah will wrap up the tour with 2 nights in New York City: a concert at UBS Arena in Belmont Park on December 15 and a final show at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on December 17. | BGNES
