Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Maria Gabriel took part in the meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council in Luxembourg. The focus of the discussion was the situation in Israel and neighboring countries in the region.
"We condemn in the strongest possible terms the terrorist attacks against Israel by Hamas, which have caused massive loss of life and many injuries on both sides. We stand in solidarity with Israel, including regarding the hostages taken by Hamas," emphasized the Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister.
In her speech, she expressed concern over the worsening humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and called for coordinated efforts to support civilians on both sides. Maria Gabriel also emphasized the need to make efforts to prevent escalation in the region.
"Coordination and anticipatory actions - this is what we need as the EU. A humanitarian corridor, constant contact with neighboring and regional countries, and vigilance regarding disinformation are important actions to avoid an escalation of the conflict," said the Deputy Prime Minister. /BGNES
