Manchester United won the FA Cup for the 13th time. The Red Devils beat city rivals Manchester City 2-1 at Wembley to book a place in next season's Europa League.
The final and the result were the same, but this time the champions bowed their heads. This is United's first FA Cup after 8 years of waiting.
In the second minute, City claimed a penalty after Erling Holland was pushed down by Lisandro Martinez. There was no 11-meter penalty kick. Half an hour after kick-off, United opened the scoring. Diogo Dalot sent a long pass that Josko Guardiol reached first. The Croatian, however, did not get along with goalkeeper Ortega and in his attempt to return the ball to the keeper, Guardiol laid it on a baking sheet for Alejandro Garnacho, who could not save into an empty net.
Rashford sent the ball into Ortega's net for a second time, but the effort was disallowed for offside. In the 39th minute, Manchester United organized an excellent team attack. Rashford found Garnacho on the left flank with a long pass. He advanced and passed to Fernandes, who passed to Kobi Mainu. The 18-year-old midfielder kept his cool and made the score 2:0.
10 minutes into the second half, Erling Holland shot but his shot hit the crossbar. In the 59th, Kyle Walker tried his luck. However, Onana showed excellent reflexes and kicked out.
Manchester City's pressure continued and Alvarez missed the best chance of the game for Pep Guardiola's side, he was brought down by Phil Foden as Onana shot wide.
Three minutes before the end of regular time, the "citizens" returned to the match. Jeremy Doku shot from the edge of the penalty area and after an inadequate intervention by the goalkeeper, the ball ended up in the net. Until the end, City tried everything to equalize, but without success. /BGNES
