Mali journalist Abdoul Aziz Djibrilla's murder is condemned by the Director-General of UNESCO

The slaying of Abdoul Aziz Djibrilla in Mali on November 7, 2023, was condemned by the Director-General of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay.

"Abdoul Aziz Djibrilla's murder is abhorrent action. I implore all stakeholders to guarantee the security of journalists and media personnel as they carry out their critical mission of informing the public. Audrey Azoulay, director-general of UNESCO, stated that "those responsible for this crime must be prosecuted."
 
Ibezanga's Naata Radio employed Abdoul Aziz Djibrilla as a radio host. During a journey with colleagues to Gao, northern Mali, he was fatally shot by unidentified assailants. During the assault, two additional journalists were abducted, and one more sustained injuries.
